Hello World,
The Carolina Panthers were looking to have an improved season after drafting #1 pick QB Bryce Young. But it has been another nightmare of a season as they are currently 1-10 and in need of a new head coach. The worst part about all of this, they don't even own their own first round pick.
This is definitely not the start relatively new owner David Tepper was hoping for. He spent over $2.5 billion to buy the Panthers of the NFL and Charlotte FC of the MLS. He has gone through 5 coaches in 4 years. He will also have to pay around $25 million in buyout fees just for the last two NFL coaches.
Is he becoming one of the worst owners in sports? The issues in Carolina are definitely going to lead to this becoming a big headline. I would say it is quite early to judge, but he isn't doing himself any favors. He stopped the building of new facilities that were 30% along the way and put it through bankruptcy.
It leads to the question as to why billionaires spend billions and don't expect to invest more money to help it grow. It will be interesting to see how Carolina progresses in the next few months and how much influence the franchise quarterback is given.
